An inspirational story of how Geoff Lawton Greened The Dessert of a salt laden dustbowl in Jordan with simple permaculture techniques and flummoxed traditional academic agriculturalists. Warning: shockwave file that requires sound enabled.

The US site has been blogged before but the show has since transferred to the UK and, I can testify, it is absolutely fantastic fun.
On the site you can listen to and watch songs from the musical and, more importantly, book tickets. The show is in London until September at the moment.

Once again the Bristol Community Festival approaches. Don’t go for the headline acts (Simple Minds? meh). Go for the many great local acts – punk, electronic, acoustic – on the Blackout, Acoustic and other stages. The comedy is occasionally excellent. A complete list of performing acts is available on the festival web site, tragically without links to further information. This is where MySpace is your friend.

In the past I’ve raved about Don Hertzfeld’s hilariously twisted and sick short animation about adverts that are rejected. Now thanks to YouTube you get to see it online. “My anus is bleeding!” “Woooo! Yaaaaay!”

It’s mad that perfectly good organs are being put in the ground when people are dying for want of a transplant. If you feel the same way, make sure you’re on the UK donors register.

While investigating this most timely of issues I chanced upon a handy guide to Headbutting provided by the Hubbard Township police in Ohio, US.
“Aim to strike using the area one-inch or 25mm above your eyebrow – just for comfort.”

For those of us mourning the end of another (slightly disappointing) World Cup campaign you can relive its defining moment.
How many ‘chesty headbutts’ (copyright Baddiel and Skinner) can you perform before the Ref prematurely ends your career.
