When a “Brazilian” results in a Hitler Moustache (featuring Charlie Brooker)

Posted by Martin Poulter on 31 March 2015

I must pay tribute to the awesome Ariane Sherine – comedy writer, Atheist Bus campaigner, and one half of comedy electro duo The Lovely Electric. “Hitler Moustache” is “the single” from The Lovely Electric‘s album and you’ve surely never seen a song with this many euphemisms for a lady’s ladyparts. Watch out for the appearance by Charlie Brooker who plays a small but special role brilliantly.

Teletubbies meet Joy Division

Posted by Martin Poulter on 30 March 2015

In somber black and white, the Teletubbies take on a startling resemblance to something by Anton Corbijn, the photographer and director whose work includes the video for Joy Division’s “Atmosphere”. It only remained for someone to match up “Atmosphere” with B&W Teletubbies footage, and that’s just what Christopher G. Brown has done here:

Man hears for the first time

Posted by Martin Poulter on 21 March 2015

Thanks to a cochlear implant, a man can experience voices, music and laughter for the first time. But do you really want that? Couldn’t it get annoying? Seeing is good on its own, right?

Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf

Posted by Martin Poulter on 14 March 2015

On the surface, this is a straightforward operatic performance of a horror story in which YOU are hunted down by crazed, cannibalistic Hollywood superstar Shia LaBeouf. Each time you think you get what’s going on in this video, it gets bigger and stranger. Watch to the end.

Posted by Martin Poulter on 9 March 2015

This video has been rather popular on various sites over the past week. Goth kids are funny; goths attempting to dance are funny. Replacing the music they are dancing to with a children’s TV theme is funnier, but it’s just gilding the lily at this point.

Frost / Saville

Posted by Martin Poulter on 6 March 2015

Prepare for some very dark humour if you haven’t heard this before. Peter Serafinowicz and Robert Popper present a piece from their “Radio Spiritworld” series in which David Frost interviews Jimmy Saville in Hell.

Metallica play smooth jazz

Posted by Martin Poulter on 5 March 2015

The third in the series of radical cover versions by Andy Rehfeldt. I know light jazz covers of metal hits are already a thing – with Richard Cheese and so on – but this version of “Enter Sandman” is particularly well done, especially how it fits with the video.

AC/DC play Funk

Posted by Martin Poulter on 4 March 2015

Continuing the brilliant alternative cover versions of Andy Rehfeldt. This is what “Back in Black” would have sounded like if AC/DC had collaborated with Wild Cherry.

Bob Marley sings Metal

Posted by Martin Poulter on 3 March 2015

There are lots of people who like to genre-swap popular songs, including for example yours truly (cough). Andy Rehfeldt is a stand-out master, though. Taking original vocal tracks and dubbing on his own guitar, bass, and drums, he makes radically different versions that sound like how the song was always meant to be played. You can spend a lot of time journeying through his YouTube channel, but here on KDnC I will post my three favourites.

First is Bob Marley’s “Is This Love?” transformed into screaming, riff-tastic metal.
