The censoring of Bill Hicks

Posted by Paul Ayres on 29 May 2003

Details of a new film about hard-edged, dead, American comedian Bill Hicks have been posted to the Sacred Cow web site. Sadly it will only be viewable to about 10 million US viewers on the Trio network in the States, but maybe some of our friends with broadband may find some way to ‘obtain’ it – and I’m posting this on the day of Bob Hope’s 100th birthday – who would you rather have alive Bill or Bob? Bit of a no brainer really …

The Deliverables: Live in Hawaii

Forgive the minimalist HTML, but at last I can announce the “live album” from the improvisation session that took place in the Institute a month ago. There’s 9 tracks here, with nearly 25 minutes of rough-edged but interestingly varied music.

Journal of Machine Learning Gossip

Posted by Martin Poulter on 28 May 2003

From Simon P comes this spoof journal which is both a Brainy and a Funny. The humour is very obscure, but of a high order. One paper deals with the extension of Douglas Adams’ bistromathic system to “indecision problems” such as the selection of a US president.

Edit: It was at http://www.jmlg.org, but the link is broken now.

Keep making deliveries in chaotic London while avoiding the speed cameras and other cars. Get caught by the cameras too many times and youll raise too much attention and your car will be impounded.

PizzaMatrix

A complete reinterpretation of the Matrix – screenplay, images and video – in terms of pizza.

The 32Meg video is locally mirrored at

http://chewbacca.ilrt.bris.ac.uk/~plmlp/funnies/Pizza_Matrix.avi

but you may need to download a (small) extra video codec.

The script and still images are browsable at your leisure on SomethingAwful.

Trailer

Posted by misterchristophe on 19 May 2003

Someone has gone to a lot of effort to produce this. A spoof short film that satirises trailers that give you too much damn information. A little patchy at times but worth 4 minutes of your day.

PerversionTracker: Apparently Useless Software

Posted by Martin Poulter on 19 May 2003

Some of the funniest, most original writing I’ve seen in a long time, in a site for MacOS software reviews. We can learn much from the “organisational chart” as well.
