The Royal Society of Arts has found a way to make some excellent talks even more interesting, using a very witty and talented illustrator. Here, Barbara Ehrenreich’s take-down of mindless positivity, market fundamentalism and “The Secret” is made even more watchable.

In this thread at Ask Metafilter, which unfolds over the course of a roughly 24-hour period, the community get together to protect two Russian women from a sex trafficking scam. They shared not just information but living space, money and phone conversations. Together they identified and informed a lot of relevant authorities, helped by the fact that one of the Metafilter regulars works for the US State Department.

Here’s an update on what happened to the women.

“Gardyn”, the latest video by Pogo (previously featured) builds up music from the sounds of his mother’s voice and the sounds of objects in the garden of her Western Australia home. In what’s surely the most impressive Mother’s Day present ever, Pogo makes something modern but still genuinely touching. Hooray for the internet.
