Following on from the iDaft and the amazing Daft Hands, we’ve now got Daft Pseudo Formant Synthesis on a Nintendo DSi:

I have a feeling the good Dr Poulter will be considering a purchase shortly. He could also then do Kraftwerk covers:

Martin’s Art (3): Nightmare Afternoons

Posted by Martin Poulter on 23 February 2007

This is the third day of my “Art Week”: uploading a new piece of art (music or whatever else) on each of seven days, distinct from my contributions to the forthcoming ILRT Art Show. Today’s new release is a piece of moody and pensive music with spoken vocal. A truly enormous amount of software was put together to create this, along with my guitar (distortion to the max!) and hard disk recorder.

Update October 2008: The track is now part of Coma Pilot’s profile on MySpace.

Martin’s Art (2): The Martin Channel

Posted by Martin Poulter on 22 February 2007

This is a bit of what I call “intense ambient” music, the title being a bit of a pun. The music is made almost entirely by digital resonators. Other “instruments” include a male voice speaking German backwards and chopped into tiny bursts and, at the start, a radio.

It was going to be the climax of my CD, “Crisis Music” but people don’t listen to CDs anymore, so you get it on its own. Not the right sort of music for work or the bus queue: listen to it in a deserted barn out in the country in the middle of the night.

Update October 2008: The track, renamed simply “Channel”, is now part of Coma Pilot’s profile on MySpace.

Martin’s Art (1): Over You

Posted by Martin Poulter on 21 February 2007

Every day for the week leading up to my birthday I’m going to put online a new piece of art. The first is a piece of synth-pop that I wrote a few years ago. Yes, it is influenced by New Order. No, singing is not my strong point. Listen inline:

or download the MP3.
