We love our trailer remixes around here, we do. The attraction of this one is the way the very adult dialogue is synched so well with the lip movements of the Toy Story characters.
It had occurred to me that Aerosmith’s “Janey’s Got a Gun” could be reworked after the recent weapon-based faux pas, and lo and behold, someone’s gone and done it. Amusing video and lyrics, although it must be said, no one is shot, in what can only be described as, their face.
Recorded in my front room, this five-track album has been released online through the Jamendo service. Almost entirely improvised on the spot, it features our own Ale_F on acoustic and electric guitars, Mel on clarinet, vocals and percussion, Eli on vocals, synth and percussion and myself on bass and “production”, although it would be fairer to say this was not produced.
My personal favourite bits are the first track with its sweet spoken vocals, the last two minutes of “0800 HELP ME” and, if you’re up for a delightfully mad musical excursion, the whole twelve minutes of “Cat Familiars”.
The value of the Psychic Challenge prize offered by ASKE (UK Association for Skeptical Enquiry) has reached thirteen thousand pounds, including five hundred pounds of my own money. This money will be paid out to anyone who demonstrates a real paranormal power: aura reading, spoon-bending, clairvoyance, dowsing…
There are other similar psychic challenges around the world, the big one being the Million Dollar Challenge offered by the Randi Foundation in Florida. What’s the catch? There isn’t one, but you have to really demonstrate the ability. A stage magician faking psychic powers wouldn’t be eligible, and the demonstration would have to rule out that possibility.
Given that these challenges have been around for years, you’d think they would have been claimed by one of those genuine psychics that we hear about all the time. Yeah right!
